




Horley Town 2 Croydon 1
Having lost two of the last three games town were hoping for a result against Croydon to push on in the League. Town will now be without Harry Williams and Jamie Risebrow as they have both returned to university. Also missing was defender Tom Winsor.Making their home debuts were Steve Rowlinson from Merstham and Colin Harvey from Banstead.In the opening minutes town went on the attack ad soon got a corner taken by Luke Regetti which was cleared by our former Reserves team player Terry Fennessy.With ten played a good ball into the box from Kyle Hough saw man of the match Adam Pullen slip on the wet surface as he went to shoot.With eleven played first a great shot from Kyle Hough was pushed out by the keeper and then the follow up shot from john Eldred was treated to the same treatment by the superb Croydon keeper and captain Francis Ameyaw.With sixteen played a cross in from the left from Adam was meet perfectly by Kyle Hough but again the Croydon keeper rose to teh occasion and saved.A minute later a big clearance from keeper Ian Chatfiedl was flicked on by Kyle who rounded the defender only to have his shirt almost pulled of his back in the area as he shoot his shot went wide and the referee waved play on! With eighteen played again Kyle picjed the ball up in the area turned and shoot and again the keeper somehow managed to parry the ball away.With sixteen played Kyle shoot was parred by the keeper and Adam Pullen flicked the ball to Nathan Jupp who fired the ball home only for the Assistant referee to disallowed the goal for offside.With twelve left a break from Croydon saw them with only Chatfield to beat which they did for Croydon to take the lead.A minute later Steve Rowlinson was called upon to do a good covering tackle at the back got Town.With six left it was Ian Chatfield's turn top produce a greats save ruight on the line as Croydon pushed for a second goal.In the closing minutes first a header from Ben Herdman and then a header from Adam Pullen both went just over the cross bar as Town went all out to get the equalizer.Town went in at half time one nil down despite all the chances. the second half saw a change with Nathan Jupp of and Dareen Tidy on.With five five minutes played a good free kick from Ben Herdman took a deflection and went out for a corner bny luke Regetti. From the corner Kyle Hough fired the ball home from a very tight angle only for the referee to disallowed the goal again for offside.With ten played Dareen tidy had a blockbuster shot parred by the keeper and then the defender hand balled the ball in the area but the refere did nothing.with eleven played a free kick from luke Regetti was played down with then hand of Terry Fennesssy for Croydon but again the referee waved play on.Adam Pullen then got booked for arguing with the referee about the second hand ball. A minute later Luke Regetti broke through the centre of the defence but his shot went just wide of the upright.Then another hand ball in the box and this time Ben Herdman went in the referee book for arguing.From the corner Anthony Jupp had a good header saved on the line by the keeper.Then it was Croydon turn for a booking when the foward kicked out at John Eldred. Then Claudio Dcalmeido got booked for Croydon for refusing to move out the way of a free kick for Horley.Town continued to push foward with three consecutive corners putting Croydon under great pressure but still no goal could be found.With fifteen left Chris Weller was replaced with Mark Gilbert as Town pushed forward even more.Two minute after coming on Mark Gilbert had a powerful shot saved on the line and then the defender hacked the ball away just missing his own upright.With ten left Adam Pullen had a shot well saved by the keeper again.With seven left Croydon picked up another booking.With six left Luke Regetti was taken off and Jack Popplett came on.this was followed by Croydon breaking free and having a free header which he planted wide of Ian Chatfield's upright.With five left Darren tidy crossed from the right and kyle Hough was on hand to fire the ball home to make in finally one one.Then Croydon had a player sent of and another one booked and Colin Harvey for Town was booked as well.With two minutes left super sub Dareen Tidy sprung up in the box and fired home the winner.
this gave Town the three very deserved points and keeps them in third place in the League.
