Horley Town FC 2011/12
Town played fast improving Banstead Athletic who have just signed four players from Pro clubs including Jamie Lawrence who played for Bradford and Leicester.Town were without top goal scorer Kylie Hough unavailable and the injured Darren Tidy.
In the opening minute Jack Poplett had a long range shot go just wide.With five played Adam Pullen broke into the box and shot but his shot was saved.A minute later Chris Weller put Gary Thomlinson through he beat the keeper Colin Harris but his shot hit the side netting.With thirteen played Liam Cox put in a good free kick and Adam Pullen got up well and headed goal bound and the keeper only collected the ball at the second attempt.With fifteen played Tom Winsor did a great cover header at the back.With eighteen left Banstead broke through but missed the target by a mile.With fifteen left Nathan Jupp got booked after turning his player with the ball.With twelve left Anthony Jupp set up John Eldred whose powerful shot was well saved.With seven left Adam Pullen set up John Eldred and he beat the keeper but hit the side netting.With three minutes left Banstead broke into the box and scored to send Town in at half time one nil down.In the first minute of the second half John Eldred went in the referee's book.Two minutes later John Eldred broke into the box and crossed to Gary Thomlinson whose shot was well saved by the keeper.With seven played a goal mouth scramble saw Banstead clear on the line twice with shots for Gary Thomlinson and Chris Weller.In the 12th minute Liam Cox picked the ball up in his own half ran down the wing saw the keeper of his line an hit a super shot into the far corner of the net giving the keeper no chance to put Town back into the game. Liam Cox and Luke Regetti were then replaced with Ben Herdman and Harry Williams. With twenty played Banstead picked up a booking for a bad tackle on Ben Herdman.With seventeen left Nathen Jupp was replaced by Max Davie.With six left Jack Poplett had a long range shot which went just over the cross bar. Man of the match Anthony Jupp then pulled of the tackle of the game beating the Banstead forward.then the Banstead sub got booked for a foul on Anthony Jupp.Two minutes into injury time and Jack Poplett got booked for Town.
