Town had top goal scorer Kyle Hough on the bench and a great all round team performance saw them get a well deserved point against Cup Kings Hanworth Villa at the New Defence.
Town started the much better side with Kevin lock breaking free in the second minute and with only the keeper Terry Buss to beat fired just wide of the upright.With four played Jack Poplett had a fantastic shot matched by a equally good save by Terry Buss who tipped the ball over the cross bar.From the corner Anthony Jupp got up well and his powerful header went just wide of the upright.next it was Hanworth who broke free but keeper Ian Chatfield got down well at the near post.Town went on the attack again and this time Adam Pullen had a long range shot go just over the cross bar.
With twenty five played another good town attack was ended when Jack Poplett was taken out and Hanworth received their first booking of the night.With twenty eight played Hanworth broke on the right and Chatfield got down well and saved and skipper Anthony Jupp cleared from the line.With thirty one played John Eldred broke into the box beat the defender and the keeper just to see his shot go just wide of the upright.With forty played played Kevin lock got pushed in the box and then Nathan Jupp had a shot which went just over the cross bar.The teams went in at half time with the score still nil nil but with Town having had the better chances to score.
With three played Ben Herdman got taken out and the Hanworth skipper went in the referee book.With seven played Adam Pullen was pulled down on the edge of the box the ball came to John Eldred who fired it into the box and Hanworth hacked it clear at the second attempt.With sixteen played hanworth picked up booking number three.With seventeen played two attack saw Nathan Jupp go close for Town and then Hanworth close at the other end when they beat Ian Chatfield but fired wide of the upright.With twenty four played Jack Poplett got booked for Town.This was followed by Hanworth again breaking into the box and with only Ian Chatfield to beat fired high and wide of the mark. Hanworth then got caugh t by the offside trap about six times on the trot.Then Town replaced Nathan Jupp with kyle Hough.With thirty one played Hanworth picked up booking number four after a foul on Kyle Hough.Next Jack Poplett was replaced with Mithun Nayee.With ten mi nutes left Kevin lock broke and beat the defence but again the excellent Hanworth keeper Buss did well tipping the ball over the cross bar.From the corner taken by Mithun Nayee Kyle Hough had a header go just wide of the upright.With three left Ben Herdman was replaced by Mark Gilbert. Both teams pushed for a winner but the game ended nil nil and very good point against a top five side.
